Cookie and analytics policy

Last updated 29 August 2026. This policy explains how HomeSpreadsheets uses cookies and analytics on our Shopify storefront. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

Essential cookies

Shopify and enabled service providers use essential cookies and similar technologies to operate the store, keep the cart and checkout working, protect transactions, remember privacy choices and prevent fraud. These are necessary for the service and cannot be disabled through our analytics controls.

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”), provided by Google LLC and, where applicable, Google Ireland Limited or another relevant Google affiliate, to understand how visitors use our online store and to improve our products, content and shopping experience.

GA4 helps us measure storefront and product-page visits, product interactions, cart, checkout and purchase activity, traffic sources, session activity, website performance and areas that may need improvement.

Information processed

Information may include a randomly generated browser identifier, device and browser details, page URLs and titles, referring pages, event dates and times, language, product and transaction information such as product name, quantity, currency and purchase value, and approximate location derived from an IP address. Google states that GA4 uses IP-address information to derive approximate location but does not log or store individual IP addresses. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, passwords, full postal addresses or payment-card details to GA4.

Analytics cookies and retention

• _ga distinguishes users and may remain for up to two years.
• _ga_<container-id> maintains session state and may remain for up to two years.

Actual duration may be shorter because of browser settings, browser-imposed limits, deletion or withdrawal of consent. We configure GA4 user-level and event-level data retention to 14 months. Standard aggregated reports may remain available for longer because Google’s retention control does not apply to those reports.

Consent and lawful basis

For visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and other regions where prior permission is required, non-essential analytics relies on consent. GA4 analytics storage is not activated unless the visitor chooses to allow analytics. In other regions, we process analytics only as permitted by applicable law and provide the privacy choices required there. Declining analytics does not prevent essential store, cart or checkout functions from working.

We do not use GA4 data for advertising, remarketing, Google Signals or personalised advertising unless those features are separately enabled, this notice is updated and any additional consent required by law is obtained.

Your choices

You may withdraw or change your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences control in our website footer. Withdrawing consent prevents future optional analytics collection in that browser but does not affect processing that occurred while valid consent applied.
